Visitation rules

Please read the information
listed below carefully.

  1. Residents are responsible for informing visitors of this visitation policy.

  2. Visitation typically will be scheduled one time per month on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The visitation schedule is subject to change.

  3. To qualify for visitation, the resident must have been at MCRRC for at least six (6) months and must be approved by the resident's counselor.

  4. All visitors, including children, must be approved by the Counselor on visitation request form by 3:00 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding the visitation day.

  5. A resident who qualifies for visitation may have up to a maximum of three (3) adult relatives plus children, if approved by the Counselor.

  6. Visitors may not bring items for the resident unless pre-approved by the Counselor and the Court Director on the package request form, which must be completely filled out and must accompany the visitation request form. All such items must be checked in at the time the visitors arrive. Items received must be enclosed in their original and unopened packaging.

  7. Unless otherwise stated, visitation is from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visitors should arrive between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. If any visitors arrive before 12:30 p.m., they will be asked to leave and return at the appropriate time. First-time visitors will attend orientation at 12:30 p.m.

  8. All visitors must sign in and sign out in the MCRRC Visitor Log.

  9. Visitors may not bring onto the premises any personal items other than identification and car keys. Cell phones or other electronic devices, purses or other kinds of bags or containers, tobacco or nicotine products, any kind of contraband, or any other personal items that are not pre-approved, are strictly prohibited.

  10. In compliance with state law, TCA 4·4·121, there will be no consumption of tobacco products on state property (including the parking lot).

  11. Visitation shall take place only in designated areas. Visitors may not enter the dorms. If a visitor leaves the designated areas (for example: to go to the parking garage) then the visitation for that visitor shall end; the visitor will not be permitted to return. All visits must be in plain view. Visitors are to remain in the Courtroom, Dining Room, the Pavilion, the Gazebo or the yard area in front of the dorms.

  12. Physical contact between resident and visitor is restricted to a modest embrace at the beginning and end of the visit. During the course of the visit, all other contact is limited to hand holding. Visitation must be peaceful; boisterous, unruly or disruptive conduct will not be allowed.

  13. Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to visit.

  14. At the end of visitation, residents may go with their visitors towards the front gate as far as the Administration Building. At no time during visitation may a resident pass through the front gate or go into the parking lot.
